I'm a professional trainer and I use my training skills in handling horses during trimming and shoeing. Every horse is different and what works on one horse does not necessarily work on all horses. Most horse problems I come across is the horse is being man handled to much and not asked enough. A horse giving up its hoof to you is one of the most terrifying things a horse may do. Those hooves are its only defence it has and you are asking the horse to give them up to you. This defenceless feeling can take a toll on a horse making them reluctant to cooperate . Being gentle and allowing the horse to feel safe and secure can help this situation. The second most common problem is the exact opposite where the horse needs discipline.
Discipline and man handling are not the same!!
